Some days Bristol Raw Dog feels less like a shop and more like a little dog social club 😂🐾 We had so many dogs in today arriving in pairs, bumping into friends, making new ones and having a good old nose around together. That is something we are genuinely proud of. We’ve always wanted Bristol Raw Dog to be somewhere likeminded dog owners feel comfortable bringing their friendly dogs, where there’s no rush to get in and out, dogs are welcomed properly and a quick shopping trip can easily turn into a bit of social time for everyone. Seeing dogs happily meeting each other in the shop, owners chatting, swapping stories and everyone enjoying the atmosphere is exactly the sort of community we hoped to create. A little heads-up for the next few weeks ❤️ We’ve got a few upcoming days where the shop will be closed, so we wanted to give everyone plenty of notice. Monday 31st August – CLOSED It’s Bank Holiday Monday and, after what has been an incredibly busy and very hot summer, we’re taking the opportunity to have a proper day off. Working through the continuous heatwaves has been pretty hard going this year, and we’re definitely feeling ready for a little reset before heading into September. Friday 11th September – CLOSED We’ll be closed for a family funeral. Sunday 27th September – CLOSED We’ll be making our annual trip to the trade show. It’s still very much a working day for us, but unfortunately we can’t be in two places at once! We’ll be spending the day meeting suppliers, looking at new products and hunting out the best deals and ideas to bring back to the shop. We know closures can sometimes mean a little extra planning when you’ve got hungry dogs to feed, so we’ll keep reminding everyone nearer each date too. What a day!! We’ve had a @nakeddograw delivery, a @furbabynutritionltd delivery, a @rawtreatpetfood delivery and a huge @jrpetproducts delivery. Some dogs just have the loveliest presence about them, and this beautiful girl is one of them 🤎 She is so calm, so gentle and has the sweetest nature. ☀️ TEMPORARY OPENING HOURS – THURSDAY & FRIDAY ☀️ With the extreme temperatures continuing, we’re making a small change to our opening hours for the next couple of days. Thursday: 9am – 3pm Friday: 9am – 3pm We’re opening earlier than usual on both days to give everyone plenty of opportunity to shop, but we’ll be closing at 3pm before the worst of the afternoon heat. Running a shop full of freezers during prolonged temperatures like these is challenging. Our freezers are working incredibly hard around the clock to safely maintain temperature, and every time they’re opened they have to work even harder to recover. We also have to consider the wellbeing of our team. Our job is incredibly physical, with lots of lifting, carrying and moving stock, and these temperatures make that much harder. Although Wednesday is our usual closed day, we have still headed into the shop to ventilate the building and carry out additional freezer temperature checks. There’s quite a lot that goes on behind the scenes to keep everything running safely during weather like this. 🚐 If the temporary hours or the heat mean you’re struggling to get to us, please remember we also deliver. We already have lots of deliveries booked in for Thursday and Friday, but we’ll do our best to accommodate anyone else who needs us. Just drop us a message and we can see what we can arrange. The marrow inside is incredibly tasty and high value, which makes these bones especially appealing for dogs that enjoy working for their food. Chewing can also provide great mental enrichment and help satisfy natural chewing instincts. The gnawing action can help scrape at the surface of the teeth and support dental hygiene, although bones should never be relied on as a replacement for regular dental care.
