🚨 COMMUNITY ALERT: CRIME SPREE IN SOUTHMEAD 🚨 Following yesterday’s incident involving Mr Zeus, new evidence suggests this was not an isolated event. We are now dealing with what appears to be a coordinated gang of four-legged hooligans operating in the Southmead area with absolutely no respect for local businesses, treat displays or closing times. Today’s suspect appeared significantly more professional. Not only was he harder to identify due to the use of a balaclava but he also arrived armed. We are incredibly fortunate that no staff, customers or snacks were harmed during the incident. Police have run the number plate linked to the suspect’s vehicle, however it appears not to be registered, further suggesting organised criminal activity. Offences include: • Armed robbery (with puppy eyes) • Aggravated drooling • Possession of stolen natural treats • Intent to charm staff into compliance • Operating without a snack permit We urge all local residents to remain vigilant. Over the past few days we’ve seen some alarming headlines about bacteria in raw pet food. We’ll be honest, it’s disappointing to see things presented in a way that creates fear rather than understanding, so we wanted to share a bit of context from a team that handles pet food every single day and feed raw to our own dogs. Bacteria are part of life. They’re in soil, on our skin, in our bodies and in many of the foods we prepare for our own families, from raw chicken and mince to eggs and fresh produce. Pet food is no different. The presence of bacteria doesn’t automatically mean something is dangerous. What matters is how food is handled, stored and prepared. From time to time issues are found within the pet food chain. When that happens, products are traced and removed. That isn’t the system failing, it’s the system working to keep pets and households safe. Dry foods aren’t immune either. Bacterial recalls have happened internationally. Kibble can also develop storage mites once opened if it isn’t kept in a cool, dry, airtight container. It’s a reminder that how we store and handle food at home matters whatever we choose to feed. As raw feeders ourselves, we’re passionate about doing it properly. The biggest difference we can make is through simple hygiene. The same common-sense steps we use in our own kitchens apply to our dogs’ bowls: • wash hands after handling • clean bowls and utensils • wipe down preparation surfaces • defrost in the fridge • store food properly, covered and chilled • don’t leave food sitting out for long periods Raw feeding, like handling any raw meat, comes with responsibility. With sensible practices and good sourcing, it can be managed safely, just as we manage raw food for our families every day. Our role has always been to stock foods we trust, support informed choice and help people feed their dogs safely and confidently. That hasn’t changed.
